Sabine partners with executives to help them embrace inclusive leadership and create organizations where people thrive. Leveraging her 25+ years of experience in social and behavioral sciences, she brings a deep understanding of human behavior and cultural change to bear on her approach to coaching and inclusive change management. Throughout her career, Sabine has been an influential voice, delivering over 100+ speaking engagements addressing the psychological and cultural barriers impeding effective decision making and lasting behavior change. She has also contributed significantly to the field with communication guides, training programs, and papers on overcoming these obstacles with improved communications. Sabine’s healthy blend of practical experience and scholarly expertise forms the foundation of her approach to leadership development, communications for change, and shaping organizations for the better.
Sabine is a leadership coach who helps executives to become more inclusive leaders and helps teams and organizations navigate change. Her passion for leadership development is driven by her own experiences in leadership roles and by the realization that early access to coaching could have prevented a lot of mistakes and suffering. More substantively, she draws on decades-long study of human behavior, decision making, and behavior change; complemented by specialized coaching training at the Co-Active Training Institute (CPCC). She is certified in a series of assessment tools including the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and the Diamond Power Index (DPI), Positive Intelligence (PQ), and carries ACC credentials with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
While she specializes in inclusive leadership, she also helps clients work through more general pain points that naturally accompany being in a leadership position: struggling with overwhelm, feeling stuck in a rut, self-doubt, people pleasing, or feeling unfulfilled despite high achievements and outward success.
She recognizes that each person's needs and challenges are shaped by their identity, history, and the culture and systems they inhabit. Acknowledging the complex interplay of power, identity, and culture is crucial both for the coaching relationship and for the work environment that leaders need to navigate. Sabine’s work is deeply rooted in behavioral science which means she helps you change unproductive patterns into more effective behaviors. To make it all stick, she establishes structure and accountability.
Sabine is a first-generation college graduate. She received her PhD in medical history from Carnegie Mellon University, and holds a master’s degree in sociology and pedagogy, with a minor in psychology and art therapy from the University of Cologne, Germany. She completed her post-doctoral training at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) and the Department of Psychology at Columbia University. Over the past two decades, she has held various appointments at Columbia University, including Director of Research at the National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP) and Managing Director at the Center for Research on Environmental Decisions (CRED). She currently serves as senior consultant at Brevity & Wit where she brings her expertise to bear on change management, strategic communications, and leadership development with clients in the non-profit and private sectors.
